A Forum for Local Government, Greenhouse Alliances and their partners.
Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA Region (TZNE) responds to the urgent need to reduce greenhouse emissions by providing for the first time in Australia, a comprehensive and evidence-based regional direction for carbon mitigation to 2020.
Towards Zero Net Emissions builds on existing collaboration, outlines a clear role for councils with benefits for all members from a relatively small investment.
The Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (NAGA) comprises 9 councils in the northern metropolitan area of Melbourne and the Moreland Energy Foundation. Together they represent approximately 25% of Melbourne's population.
Mike Hill, Chair Victorian Local Sustainability Advisory Committee, will facilitate the day. NAGA's project team and consultants Arup will outline the pathway Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA Region.
This forum
has been developed in partnership with the Central Victorian Greenhouse
Alliance. Discussion of local implications will be a key part of the forum.

Towards Zero Net Emissions for the NAGA region is supported by the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord. This is the second of two forums to share the findings and explore regional approaches. A Melbourne forum will be held on July 10th hosted by the City of Manningham.
NAGA's members are the Cities of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Manningham, Melbourne, Moreland, Whittlesea, Yarra, Nillumbik Shire Council and the Moreland Energy Foundation Limited (MEFL).
